Zhejiang Orijin Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrade BOO Project put into operation

On December 25, 2024, the BOO project for upgrading the sewage treatment facilities of Zhejiang Aorijin Packaging Co., Ltd. was officially put into operation.

Origen Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in Hainan Province in 1994 and established its group headquarters in Beijing in 1997. It is a comprehensive packaging solution provider with brand planning, packaging design and manufacturing, filling services, and information assisted marketing as its core. The company has more than 40 manufacturing bases in 16 provinces/municipalities across the country, including three piece cans, two piece cans, lid making, beverage filling, and metal material printing. The annual production capacity of three piece cans is about 9.5 billion cans, and the annual production capacity of two piece cans is about 13.5 billion cans, with a market share of 22% for two piece cans. Zhejiang Aorijin Packaging Co., Ltd. is located in the Shangyu Economic and Technological Development Zone of Hangzhou Bay. It is Aorijin's first two-piece can production base, producing traditional cans of 250ml, 330ml, 500ml, and slim cans of 330ml. Its main customers include well-known brands such as Budweiser, Tsingtao Beer, Snow Breweries, Yanjing, Coca Cola, and Pepsi. The first "Packaging Recycling Center" in China, Youyuan Recycling, strives to promote recycling and reuse in all scenarios and industry chains, and collaborates with local governments, customers, and suppliers to achieve a "CAN to CAN" cycle in the field of metal packaging recycling and reuse.

Zhejiang Aorijin Packaging Co., Ltd. has increased its production capacity to 1 billion aluminum cans per year. Before the renovation of the sewage treatment plant, it was operating at full capacity. The fluoride ion content and water volume in the workshop wastewater fluctuated greatly, and there was a risk of exceeding the fluoride ion content in the treated external drainage. This renovation and upgrade will adopt BOO mode. For engineering projects, most of them adopt the traditional EPC model, which includes design, procurement, and construction.

Zhejiang Aorijin Co., Ltd.'s sewage treatment plant has actively innovated in its business model, adopting the BOO model, which means building, owning, and operating. Compared to other modes such as EPC, BOO mode has many advantages for customers:

In BOO mode, responsible for the entire project lifecycle, continuously providing sewage treatment services to customers, investing sufficient resources for maintenance and management, having professional personnel regularly inspect equipment, and establishing emergency response mechanisms to respond to emergencies and ensure the stability of service supply.

The BOO model does not require customers to bear the huge capital cost of project construction, which helps customers focus their energy on core aspects such as technology research and development and market expansion, reducing the risk of capital expenditure in the early stage.

The technology for resource utilization of wastewater from the production of aluminum two-piece cans by Wending Environmental Protection has effectively combined water-saving, sewage treatment, and comprehensive utilization of water resources in the two-piece can industry, improving the water efficiency of the industry. This project comprehensively applies the key technology of "comprehensive utilization of aluminum two-piece can production water system" from Wending Environmental Protection, to assist the green, energy-saving, and low-carbon production of Orijin canning production line. The key technology for the comprehensive utilization of water systems in the production of aluminum two-piece cans, the main innovative points of which are:

1. We have developed an ultra pure water production technology based on the synergistic ion exchange function of RO membrane for online water reuse, achieving the online reuse of cleaning wastewater for production line pure water.

2. Developed micro flocculation reaction precipitation, reducing fluoride concentration and operating costs.
